WOMEN’S MINISTRIES
2010 Annual Report
Our mission as Sisters in Christ is to encourage and love one another and
To act boldly on our faith in Jesus Christ, within our homes, within our Church,
Within our Community and within our World.
The Women’s Ministry programs have been richly blessed during the past year.
Our Bible Study program offered the following studies during 2010: One In a Million: Journey to Your Promised Land by Priscilla Shirer; Me, Myself and Lies: A Thought-Closet Makeover by Jennifer Rothschild; and Here and Now, There and Then: A Lecture Series on Revelation by Beth Moore. Offered weekly in both morning and evening sessions, this program continues to grow and has become well-known within our community. Women from many different area Churches have found this to be a nurturing venue in which to share their common faith.
Pearl Girls: Encountering Grit, Experiencing Grace, compiled by Margaret McSweeney, was shared by a group that met during the summer months to reflect on how Christ turns the grit of our lives into pearls of great worth.
Our traditional Women’s Retreat took place January 29-31, 2010 at Fleming Falls Retreat Center (Camp Mowana) in Mansfield. This sold-out event provided the opportunity for women of all ages - mothers, daughters, daughter-in-laws, sisters, and friends old and new - to enjoy a weekend of rest, relaxation, fellowship, fun, and conversation. Participants delved into a study, Can We Talk? Soul-stirring Conversations with God by Priscilla Shirer, learning to talk to and listen to God through scripture; and enjoyed a beautiful performance by Christian recording artist Jennifer Shaw.
In April and September of this year, groups attended two simulcast conference events featuring noted Bible study author Beth Moore.
The Women’s Ministries programs encourage all Sisters in Christ to be bold in reaching out to those in need and sharing Christ’s love in the world. Nancy’s Place Women’s Shelter (a branch of Faith Mission) has been adopted as an on-going service project. Collections of items needed by the Shelter were delivered several times this past year. Tours are available for those interested in learning more about the facility, the services it provides, and the women who desperately need our help. To learn more about Nancy’s Place, visit Faithmissionofohio.org (see Programs → Women’s Shelter).
